Mikko - what is your favorite winter sport??

We have been on a quest the last couple of weekends to determine what Mikko's favorite winter sport is. We are so lucky to have the Kirschbaum's in town so they can enjoy some quality snuggle time with Madeline while we play on the snow and ice between feedings!!

Our first adventure was Snowshoeing at Long Lake Regional Park. We knew she would love it! She was able to run through the woods as we created our own trails (weekend 1), followed the 10k trail for the Snowshoe Shuffle that was held earlier that day (weekend 2) or as part 2 to our cross country skiing adventure (weekend 3) (the trails in New Brighton were a little too hilly for this girl to take more than one lap!)

We decided to challenge her a little bit with some cross country skiing. This challenged her a little bit more as she had to sprint to catch us as we cruised down the hills and struggled up the other side! On the flat sections she would just sprint up to Jeremy, then back to me, and back up to Jeremy. We were lucky that there was only one other couple out on the trails as she decided it was fun to chase everyone on skiis! Needless to say, she slept very well that night :)

Last, but perhaps the most entertaining was Mikko on ice. We figured since she was named after a hockey player, she would have some natural talent. She didn't quite know what to think of the ice at first, but we brought her favorite ball to entice her to play. We found out that she has both skills in offense keeping the ball away from us and defense in stealing it from Jeremy. It was our first time on the ice this winter and we had a blast!

For as much as she hates to be cold...she sure loves her winter sports! It has been such a great winter for some good winter playing - we only wish little Ms. Madeline could join us - maybe next year!

We did take her out in her snowsuit at Jeremy's parents house...but as she wouldn't keep her hands covered, the photo shoot was brief as I didn't want to have to explain to the paramedics that she had frostbite because I wanted some cute winter photos :).
