Cali-Kirschbaum - Day 3: An Oasis Cow Slaughter

Saturday, we had a big day in store for ourselves. After much research, I found a good morning hike for Maddie, Kate and myself. Everything I read said the Palm Canyon hike was worth the visit. So, after a brief stop for our worst breakfast of the trip, we made our short jaunt to the spot and were not disappointed.

An open desert fed into the foothills of the mountains, and when we got out of the car we saw how amazing the hike was going to be. A short journey down from the trailhead, we were greeted by this...

A desert oasis!!!

Along the trail we made a friend...

We tried the BOB for awhile, but the terrain was too rugged. We ended up having to carry Maddie. For some reason she was the one that was wiped out from the hiking.

Fortunately, she woke up just in time for a few family photos before we had to hike back down...

On the hike back down, Maddie showed us her stepping stone skills...

After the hike we bolted back to the dream villa to pick up Heidi and Elisa. Then, we bolted to LA to visit our friends Nana and Jason and son Casey. It just so happened to be Jason's b-day that day. We kicked back with a few beers, a bbq, some yard games, and watched the the big 12 championship game (which ku slaughtered the longhorns by 12).

Maddie enjoyed the Doritos...

...but she really enjoyed hanging out with her new friend Casey!

Thanks to Nana and Jason for showing us a great time, and of course providing hospitality to the 5 of us!
