Four Months

Wow, where does the time go! I feel like we just put her 3 month sticker on!

It is hard to keep track of everything - Jeremy and I were mentioning that it seems like something new every day!

At 4 months Madeline loves to:

  • Play in her saucer - this month is all about fine motor skills! She loves picking things up, playing with toys, turning pages of her books. For a while she wasn't talking as much, but we are now convinced she was working so much on some of these new tricks that she wasn't able to multitask.
  • Speaking of talking - she loves to have conversations and loves to work with all of the ranges of her vocal cords, often ending in a cute high pitched squeal. After a short hiatus the last couple of weeks, she was talking up a storm this weekend!
  • Blow raspberries at her papa - I don't know if Jeremy taught her this trick or whether she just likes to do it to Jeremy, but it is adorable. Speaking of multitasking, several times this weekend, she tried to blow raspberries, stick her tongue out and talk at the same time - which threw Jeremy and I into several laughing fits.
  • Giggled for the first time. I thought it was a fluke, but she did it later that same day as well. It is sporadic at this point, but it makes my day!
  • Would prefer to stand. We are convinced that she would stand all day if we let her, as a close second, she loves to bounce.
  • Her firefly and her rooster on her carseat are her favorite toys.
  • Is an observer (which probably goes with the standing comment above) - loves to watch everything around her, including her puppy, the trees and the older kids at daycare.
  • Has just recently found her feet - now I know where the happy baby yoga pose comes from.
  • At her 4 month checkup she was 13lb 15oz (60th %) 25 inches (80th %) and head was (90th %)
  • Is such a happy baby in the mornings. Jeremy and I love sneaking into her room and watching her smile and kick in her crib.
  • Is diligently trying to roll over. She has been SO close. Its funny as it is a milestone you want them to accomplish, but at the same time, she is such a strong (and strong minded - not sure where she gets that from) that I am afraid once she does it once, we are going to have our hands full.
  • Car rides and stroller rides still put her to sleep instantly
