Winter Weekend Fun

Well, mother nature must have read Madeline's last post and dumped some snow on us Friday night.  With Jeremy and Madeline stranded in New Brighton for the night, we got a late start in the morning heading to the Reindeer Run around lake Harriet.  I have done this run the last 10 years (i think!), but it is one of my favorite holiday traditions.  Last year we added our Reindeer (Mikko) and this year we added our sleigh (Madeline in the stroller). Although the snow made for some slow manuvering, we had a good run and a great excuse to indulge in some holiday treats the rest of the day...

After her afternoon nap, we decided to introduce Madeline officially to the snow. I can't say that she loved it or hated it...just looked at it and enjoyed dragging her arm through it on the sled. Our back yard has a decent slope, so we thought it was appropriate for an 11 month olds' sledding adventures. I have to say that Jeremy, Mikko and I had a pretty good time too!

Sunday we went to the Vikings game. It was bittersweet as I had to pay for the tickets as I lost our fantasy football league (the league consists of Jeremy and I and we play who can pick the worst players/teams and get the least number of points). I thought I was safe at the beginning of the year when my starting QB got cut (not traded -- cut), but little did I know, his replacement would light it up this year! I grew up in Buffalo, so a little part of me will always be a Bills fan, but it was fun to see the stadium go crazy with how well the Vikings were playing...its too bad it is basically a meaningless game for both teams!

I had Monday off and Madeline and I were lucky enough to meet up with some girls that I played tennis with in college -- we met up this spring and were able to capture them all in one place at one time...

my how things have changed!!! We met up at the Eagle's nest in New Brighton (an indoor playground) - Madeline (older Madeline) and Adam were all over the big kids area venturing through the tubes and slides and playing in the enormous ball pit. Amelia and Madeline (my Madeline :) were busy tearing up the toddler area. Amelia is walking and Madeline won't be far behind! and we even added a new member to the group - Evan who was such a good baby, napping most of the time we were there! Although it is tough to catch up with 5 kids between the 3 of us... it is so fun to watch these kids grow! We even got to introduce most of them to McDonalds as we needed a quick lunch before naptime. I didn't get many pictures of the other kids as it was hard to keep up with them all! Madeline's favorite part - the slide - over and over and over again!
