Denver - Part 1

I know this post is long overdue, but with the amount of time we were there and the amount of pictures that were taken...it took a little while to get through them...hold on tight...this could be a long one!!

We set off on our first road trip as a family on wednesday evening. We were both a little nervous on how a puppy and a 3 month old would last in a car for 14 hours, but after a couple of hours when Mikko settled down and realized we weren't going to the dog park or grandpa and grandma Kirschbaum's house...the "kids" were AMAZING!! Madeline stayed on her eating schedule and spent her waking hours (which weren't many -- the car puts her right to sleep!) playing/talking to her mama in the back seat! We stopped in Kearney, NE on the way there and only had 6 hours to travel on Thursday AM which put us at my parents house in the early afternoon.

We were rewarded with some amazing weather and took advantage by drinking some Coors light on the back porch while stretching our legs.

Brian arrived later that night and the boys headed up to the mountains on Friday for a weekend of skiing - no women allowed :). I can't comment too much on their pictures, and I don't have many details on their adventures...I guess what happens in the mountains stays in the mountains!!

On Friday, Madeline and I took my dad out for lunch, then met up with Nana for some serious shopping... DSW, Kohl's and TJ Maxx...just a couple of our favorites...and finding out that we are going to have another grandson/nephew in July gave us an additional baby to shop for!

My brother and Fischer were due in on Saturday afternoon, so Madeline and I took a walk/hike in Boulder with Mikko while my parents ventured to the airport.  It is one of my favorite trails up the creek that I used to run often when I lived out there...such fun memories to be reminded of as we took a stroll on another beautiful denver day!

When Fischer arrived, we did our best to wear him out with some hockey and some time on the playground.  Nana also bought a tea set and Fischer loved having tea parties every night which proved us all wrong when we said he would never sit still for a tea party!  He loved it!  Our best efforts each day to wear Fischer out, I think only worked on the adults.  We were all exhausted!

My dad and I joined Jeremy and Brian at Keystone on Sunday and were rewarded with the most absolutely beautiful day in the mountains!!  We were SO lucky!  The snow was good and the sunshine felt great!  We rewarded our tough day of skiing with some Coors at the top of the mountain (actually on the same deck where we had our wedding reception) -- one of my favorite skiing traditions!

Off to bed as I am sure Madeline will be up in a couple of hours...more to come!
