Duluth

Duluth and the North Shore continue to be one of my favorite places to visit. There is something so calming and relaxing about the town and the nature surrounding it. We have been lucky enough to spend 2 weekends up in Duluth this summer.

First was our annual camping trip in May. We know we are always challenging mother nature this early in the season, but we always come prepared with attire for everything we might face...this year it was SNOW! We had some rain showers overnight on Friday night and woke up to some big snowflakes on Saturday morning...we decided that the snow is much friendlier than the rain! As usual, we planned some good hikes to keep us warm during the day...

Next was the weekend of Grandma's Marathon (the 1/2 marathon for us!). I was signed up, but had to miss the training and the race after news of baby Kirschbaum came along...Jeremy was able to trek through the long training runs alone and had a great race despite the toasty warm conditions.

With the Cannon's mid move to Victoria, we had some extra rooming space, so our friends Sean and Katie who had never been to the north shore decided to join us - it was so fun showing someone else one of your favorite places! Jeremy was a trooper after the race, showered up and we headed out for a hike up at Gooseberry falls. We made a quick stop at splitrock to show them the shoreline and headed back to duluth for some tasty ice cream and a nap followed by an evening out on the town.
